Welcome to The Impactful Executive!
Read time: 2 min
The Impactful Executive newsletter uses the Impactful Framework as a loosely structured sequence of nine elements, each with evidence-based practices and tactics for executives, managers, advisors, and their teams.
Theories and strategies risk oversimplifying a leader’s issues and are often used as a soothing substitute for action. As such, particularly valuable frameworks build clarity and confidence toward effective action.
Theory vs Tactics to Drive Results
“Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory. Tactics without strategy are the noise before defeat.”
Sun Tzu
"Theory without practice is pointless; practice without theory is mindless."
Vladimir Lenin
“However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results.”
Winston Churchill
Helpful strategies, theories, and frameworks must be coupled with confident, consistent practice and tactics to drive results.
Robust business frameworks are:
A helpful starting point to help identify the critical components of your business and how they fit together.
A source of inspiration, enabling you to see your business in a new way and to come up with new ideas.
A valuable tool for communication, to explain your business to others clearly and concisely.
A source of energy for teams to drive concerted action towards bottom-line results.
The Impactful Framework
As mentioned above, the Impactful Framework aims to offer professionals a structured sequence of elements, each with evidence-based practice and tactics, particularly for top teams. It comprises the nine elements below.
Each element represents a vital aspect of organizational performance and serves as an evidence-based guide for executive teams.
On the one hand, the framework addresses long-standing, foundational elements raised in business and academic literature for over a century: Processes, Management, Culture, Innovation, and Leadership.
On the other hand, high-impact tactical focal areas addressed early in the model are Understanding, Attention, Feedback, and Teamwork.
Below are the Impactful Framework element definitions.

The Impactful Executive’s Purpose
This newsletter pursues high-impact practices and tactics across each element to share fact-based, usable, and (hopefully) surprising insights.
It takes deliberate and sustained effort to drive organizational greatness. The Impactful Executive aims to make this greatness far more reachable.
In Jim Collins’ words, "Greatness is not a function of circumstance. Greatness, it turns out, is largely a matter of conscious choice and discipline."
Impactfully yours,
The Impactful Executive Team
